I started getting into pokemon with Black/White. Before X/Y came out I did played some older titles like soul silver or platinum and it was still satisfying for me despite lack of gen 5 mons.
However now that 3DS games are just much better in almost every aspect, I couldn't bring myself to go back and play the older titles anymore. The lack of mega evolution, no fairy type, need for HM slave (USUM removed that and I am forever grateful), and lack of all the newer pokemon makes it undesirable for.
I did tried to get into those older games by playing rom hack or using randomizer but there is no way they can add pokemon from newer games, and that is just disappointing.
I am asking this because I've seen a lot of people still replaying those older titles, so if you did that even after playing 3DS pokemons games I wanted to know did you felt the same way? And how did you managed to stay interested in those older games?
EDIT: Forgot to ask, what is so good about HGSS? I have seen a lot of people praised it but the pokedex makes me suspicious that it was mainly due to nostalgia which I have none of for the originals. What special features aside from following pokemon that HGSS have that makes it so highly praised?
