So, Eevee is the evolution Pokemon. That's it's official designation in the Pokedex and it has 8 possible evolutions, the most of any Pokemon as of now. But, my idea is for the co-evolution Pokemon.
So, as the infographic person pointed out a little while ago, Eevee isn't based on a fox, cat, or rabbit. It's a combination of and a link to all the Eeveelutions. Even if they aren't the same species, they share common predators. Namely, wolves and coyotes. That's exactly what the co-evolution Pokemon would be based on.
As for the types and methods of evolutions, all of the Eeveelutions are single type. Fire, water, electric, psychic, dark, grass, ice, and fairy. Respectively, they evolve via fire/water/thunder stones, max happiness during the day/night, proximity to a moss/ice rock, and max affection while knowing a fairy move. I propose that each of the Co-Eeveelutions would evolve the same way that the standard Eevee ones do. The types are actually very different from the standard, though. Instead of singular types, the Co's would have 2 types, both super effective against the corresponding Eeveelution. For example, for Flareon, Vaporeon, and Jolteon, the Co could be rock/water, grass/electric, and pure ground with an ability that doubles super effective damage (this is basically just a more niche version of adaptability).
I admit, it might be a little confusing to have a Pokemon evolve into a type that doesn't correspond to its' method, but I don't think it would be that bad.
