Did you like Black and White's decision to only have new Pokemon? Maybe you like how Ruby and Sapphire had mostly new Pokemon with a few old ones thrown in. Or Black 2 White 2's 50/50 split. Or did you like X and Y's decision to focus on having lots of Pokemon throughout the game over introducing new ones? I personally love the decision they made in Black and White, but also really enjoyed Alolan forms and new evolutions, which they couldn't do if they followed those footsteps (looking at you Alomomola). If I were developing a Pokemon game, I would add tons of new Pokemon, regional variants, and evolutions, but also add a few old Pokemon so the regionals/evos wouldn't feel out of place. And the old Pokemon wouldn't be Magikarp, Zubat, Tentacool, Wingull, and others we've seen a lot. Some examples off the top of my head for Pokemon that haven't been added in a while that I would include are Tyrogue, Purrloin, Aipom, Litleo, and I'm sure I could think of more.
