Now I am gonna try to keep this semi-short unlike literally everything else I post so...
It's basically what the Title says. What Pokemon would you like to use on a Playthrough of a Pokemon Game but can't/haven't? For me it is usually because I go for balanced teams, and if there is a Pokemon with an overlapping type, my brain has a panic attack. Sometimes I get a little leniant and use Pokemon with the same secondary type (in Hoenn it is usually Blaziken and Gallade with dupe Fighting) but nevertheless it still bugs me. So, what Pokemon have you wanted to use but never have because of literally any reason whetehr it be Duped types, too late game to catch and be useful, evolves at levels that are way too high (I'm looking at you, Unovan Pokemon), or maybe you just haven't used it because you have something that does the job right, and you don't wanna take a leap of faith and hope it ends up working out.
Here is my list:
Toxicroak- I usually pick Chimchar in Sinnoh, and since they cover a few of the same types (Grass, Ice, Rock, Steel, and Normal) it isn't worth the 4x Psychic Weakness for me, which sucks because I love the design.
Roserade- Surpisingly I have never used one of my favorite grass types. I usually don't use grass because Electric and Water cover the same things that Grass does.
Alakazam- I have used Kadabra, but never an Alakazam because everytime I catch an Abra, it's in a game where I can't trade Kadabra for Alakazam.
Bellosom- Whenever I catch an Oddish, I always opt for Vileplume because it looks like it can hit harder and it has Poison for a Secondary type which is pretty cool I guess.
Breloom- This Pokemon has a cool design (imo) but it suffers from not only the Grass Type issue with Electric and Water Covering it completely, but it also has the same secondary type as one Hoenn Starter, and the Primary type of another.
Flygon- It always seems to be found in the same place as Gible/Gabite which is my favorite Dragon Type. Since they both have Ground as a Secondary I lean towards Garchomp, because it has better stats. I will say that Flygone has a better shiny.
Cacturne- Ever since I saw that the Anime and how Cacnea interracted with James, I started to love Cacnea. However evolved Pokemon have better stats so I will say I want to use a Cacturne.
Drapion- Cool design, never had the chance to actually use one.
Abomasnow- He has the grass type problem, and even if I were to use him as a Grass type, he only gets STAB Razor Leaf and Wood Hammer. Plus it's pretty late game that you usually find him, and the 4x Weakness to fire turns me away even more.
Froslass- You find it late game (again, usually) and by then you should have a full team unless you planned it out to get a Froslass.
Dusknoir- Trade required to get it.
Scrafty- I like it's design but Dark is already covered by Krookodile, and fighting isn't a necessity to me in Unova.
Clawitzer- Greninja covers Water and has Dark as a secondary.
Tyrantrum- I like T-Rexes but never have the ambition to level a Tyrunt to level 30 or whatever at 8 AM/PM (I don't remember if you evolve him during the day or night)
