Simplifying the META

Hello Reddit,

Over the last few months the number of playable teams/types has exploded. It becomes hard to track what beats what when there are 9 or 10 viable teams rather than 2-4. So let's simplify, with some Game Theory:

There are only 4 possible teams in Pokémon Duel

1. Damage

Damage teams use better battle wheels to create knockouts, which in turn creates an advantage of numbers and positioning.

2. Rush

Rush teams have more MP and use it to create an advantage of positioning. By denying the opponent's figures entry to the field, they gain an advantage of numbers as well.

3. Status

Status teams create advantages of numbers using status effects. The opponent wastes turns curing his figures of status (if he even can), which allows the status team to gain positioning.

4. Exclusion

Exclusion teams create numerical advantage by permanently removing the opponent's figures, and by returning their own figures from exclusion.

You Can't Tech Against Everything (or can you?)

There isn't a Rock-Paper-Scissors relationship between these 4 team archetypes. Whichever archetype you choose, you will have to choose figures and plates to directly counter all four.

With only 6 figures in any team, it is difficult to counter everything at the same time. The more resources you allocate against rush, for instance, the less you can allocate against status, or damage.

But hey, that's just a theory.
