I have an 8 year old, male, neutered Mainecoon mix.He won't defecate in his litter box. He, instead, will go in an area about 3 feet away, out in the open. He'll even go in front of people. No shame. He does, fortunately, urinate only in the litter box.This started about 4-5 months ago and there were no significant changes to the house, litter box location, litter or diet that I can remember.Before this, he was the least picky cat ever. Dirty litter, clean litter, new litter, different litter, etc, nothing phased him, new location. Now I can't get him to return to the box.Things I've TriedTaken him to the vet. He is healthy.Meticulously cleaned his litter box.Cleaned his litter box less.Tried putting his waste into the litter box as a 'reminder'Changed litters.Used attractant litters and additives.Got wider boxes.Got taller boxes.Put his food where he is using the restroom.Put his litter box where he is using the restroom.Used an enzyme cleaner to scrub clean the used area.Almost any combination of the above.Any advice would be very much appreciated.Also.... required cat tax
