I was never interested in Pokemon as a kid, but am loving it as a college student

I remember when the game came out when I was in high school. I was never interested, but all my friends played, so I would go to parks with them and yell "Hey look, a Charizard!" for the nine billion people there to ignore me. Then it died down due to server overload and general unplayability, as well as my town not having a real urban area. It wasn't rural by any means, but it wasn't like the big cities.

Since then, I haven't heard a peep about it a little less than 2 months ago. I moved to Denver for college about a year ago, but it wasn't until I was in temporary summer housing with a few guys who played that I heard mention of it. I jokingly downloaded it and started playing with them, and now I'm absolutely obsessed.

I'm halfway through level 27, and I'm extremely active in my local Discord group. Squirtle Day was my first CD and I LOVED IT (though I'm beyond sad over the ones I missed). My girlfriend started playing so that she could feel included while I dragged her to the park near my place because there was something good on my Nearby. I just picked up a DS and am now going to play through the original games. I missed out as a kid, but I'm playing catch-up as a college student.
