Odd Pokemon Encounterss

I wasn't exactly sure what to call this...

For the past few weeks now, I noticed that the animation that happens when I tap a pokemon on the map changed...

Before, the Pokemon would show up in the center of the screen and then zoom out to an appropriate range.

Now, the screen starts looking at a random spot, and pans over to the pokemon being in the center of the screen..

At first, I thought this was just an unannounced patch note that got put into place, but I looked at multiple friends' games, and none of them do this. One of my friends was also using an iPhone 8 (same as me), so I'm just confused.

I wouldn't care all that much, but it causes the pokemon to not display their Sparkle if they are Shiny.

Anyone else encountering this?
