Hey Guys, I know that everyone and their mother has posted their wish lists for the upcoming 2019 pokemon games, but I am just so hyped right now and have so many things I want to get off my chest I just had to make a post. I'm playing through Heartgold currently and it has really inspired me to make this. So lets get into it!
- Difficulty settings that we don't have to unlock like we had to do in B/W. I want a option when I start a new game that tells me what difficulty I want to play. Especially with the implementation of multiple save files via different accounts on the switch.
- Tutorial skipping finally being a thing - honestly this would probably be just part of the difficulty options.
- A rival that isn't Hau. I hate him. And, controversial opinion, I don't really think that a jerk rival is really someone that is a desperate addition to the pokemon main series games. Friendly rivals are great if done right, like in B/W or 4th gen. Not saying they are perfect, but a well written one with more purpose and comradery would fit right in to pokemon.
- Gym leaders, e4, and important trainers having full teams. Reborn is a great game people.
- Have those Gym Leaders and E4 and Champion be part of the story and, probably more important than that, be part of the local mythos within the game. I mean I want to hear about how great these people are from the NPCs. I want to get hyped attempting to fight these guys in their epic Gym. Little easter eggs here and there, nothing too obvious.
- Actually competitive movesets, items, smarter AI etc. (Introduced in the difficulty setting)
- A post game that expands on the story, maybe something more personal / tying up loose ends as well as a good story that is both serious, fun, and engaging. The original sun and moon did well, B/W is the greatest, and I want something like that in this game. Maybe not something ethics related again, but a story that is more engaging than 'fight all the gyms and beat the bad team who wants to use the legendary pokemon herp derp.'
- Give. Me. More. Pokemon. Damn it! 100+ of them bad bois. With extra Mega!
- Give me more pokemon variety in each area of the game. Surprise me. I expect there to be a lot of different areas in a game with this level of added features.
- Online that doesn't suck.
- Improved secret bases were I can customize not only the decorations, but also some NPC characters were I can give them teams of pokemon to help with grinding/EV training. That would be very rad.
- Battle Frontier, with the easier competitive breeding mechanics they introduced (I loved X Y just for that) would finally be a great end game cap stone. There are so many different things you could so with the battle frontier, because they are not just a recycled battle tower, but instead a large variety of different challenges for the true hardcore player. Some ideas for your thoughts:
- An Online Facility were you can battle other players with diverse rules and/or limitations
- Battle Factory is just a given
- A Colosseum style Facility, or maybe it could be its own thing else where
- A Tournament style Facility, actually now that I think about it add all of the interesting post-game battle areas in the past games into the one area known as the Battle Frontier
- Monotype Dungeon crawler.
- Possibilities are endless
- Easier getting bottle caps, I would love using any pokemon I played through the game with to have the chance to become perfect IV. Maybe even upgrade Pokemon Refresh to allow you to do that?
- NPC Nature Changers - Self explanatory
- Easier shiny hunting gear. Maybe make a pokemon ability similar to Flame Body or Magma Armor, but instead of improved hatching rates its improved shiny rates.
- More customization for your Character, or hell, even your pokemon! I'm talking about ages, races, height, weight, etc. people!
- Let people notice your pokemon walking around, I have a fucking Arceus following me, react!
- Pokemon walking, like above
- Maybe Pokemon contests that don't suck? Have them become more mini-game focused perhaps, like the Athletic Dome. Don't forget competing online!
- Side quests that aren't irrelevant and can impact story / more open world with this
- I want to catch them all damn it! Let me catch all the mythical pokemon! And I mean catch. Fuck Gamestop. Put the mons in the actual game. In their own areas, perhaps after completing certain quests. If they want to give away mythicals they can just shiny lock them and give away the shiny version of mythicals.
- MORE PUZZLES. If turn base combat is the corner stone of Pokemon, then give us variety in everything else that comes with an JRPG. More complex, more varied, more present.
- Breath of the Wild has open world, and while I don't expect it, at least make the world feel bigger and grander, ok? After seeing the new Fire Emblem game coming out soon, it has my hopes up that we can experience at least something bigger in scale than what the 3DS line was capable of.
- I heard of Pokken level of detail with the pokemon in these games, and while it might not be to that level of polish, I want it sooo bad.
- Have an actual god damn Pokemon League Tournament before challenging the e4 or after, or something!
- Give me a super boss like Red, but better. Hell, Super Bosses. A champion rush? A gauntlet of fighting every past champion? Now that would be cool for end game content.
- Can I evolve pokemon within the game instead of trading them to evolve them? Just so I don't need to get 2 switches...
- I want to see a return of the Dive HM (or corresponding ride pokemon). Exploring the ocean floor is awesome.
- Can I just buy all the evolution stones in a store about halfway through the game? Please?
- Implementing the Pokemon Let's Go mechanics for catching and encountering wild Pokemon seems like a good way to spice up the same old formula. Have it be a toggle you can put on in the options menu.
- Pokemon is inherently a turn-based RPG. As long as that stays true, it doesn't really matter how else they change up the other mechanics to add better gameplay. We already have plenty of different battle mechanics and a very complex type chart, so if they can spice the overowrld game play as much as they can, I would love it.
- In that same vein, I saw this from another post, but introducing Ride Pokemon as something we can make the pokemon on our team become without wasting a move slot would be very dope. Combine that with 3D animations! How cool would it be if you used a Groundon to use Strength or Rock Smash? Or riding your Ho-oh around the sky's of this brand new region?
I think i covered literally everything everyone would possibly want with a new pokemon game. Or at least everything I would want. I don't expect half of these things being implemented, but it would be fuckin' awesome if they did! What would you like to see in the 2019 games?
